201 – The Art of Friendship

Today, David explores the art of finding friends, making awesome friendships and keeping friends. Find out why fighting or having a disagreement with a friend can often be a good thing and why truth becomes THE most important ingredient in friendship. Todays band Choice – ‘Coldplay’ Today, David explores the art of finding friends, making awesome friendships and keeping friends. Find out why fighting or having a disagreement with a friend can often be a good thing and why truth becomes THE most important ingredient in friendship David refers to an article in Psychology Today that explores how children make friends – See Link Below http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/growing-friendships/201209/how-children-make-friends-part-1 One of David’s favorite books is The Prophet by Khalil Gibran Buy The Prophet on Amazon: The Prophet David shares two of his favorite verses from this magical book: On Love – Khalil Gibran ‘The Prophet’ Then said Almitra, “Speak to us of Love.” And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said: When love beckons to you follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast. All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart. But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, I am in the heart of God.” And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself. But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To...

198 – The Butterfly Effect

Todays show is from the Kickass Life HQ in beautiful Kelowna BC. Check out Kelowna @ http://www.tourismkelowna.com/ David’s philosophy about change is simple: You don’t have to change everything at once, in fact you can make small changes in any area of your life and it can have a massive impact on all the other areas. ‘The Butterfly Effect” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect  The Kickass Life Butterfly Effect  In todays show David talks about small things you can do to change your life and your attitude. What you will Learn in todays show: The Importance of Changing your Routine Your reality is a result of the things you do on a daily basis, from what you eat for breakfast to where you go to work or school. If you’re going to change your life’s circumstances, you will have to change the things you do on a daily basis. The Need to Examine your Life’s Path Whether you are in school, working, job hunting, volunteering, or travelling, take a look at your life and decide if it aligns with your values and who you are. The Power of Improved Relationships No matter how much money you make or how great your accomplishments are, you will not be able to enjoy your success if you don’t have loved ones to share it with The Fun in Getting out of your comfort zone Some people are more prone than others to get stuck in the comfort of routine and familiarity. Regardless of your inhibitions or fears of change, humans need variety to be happy. You should practice this on a small scale on a daily basis as well as on a larger scale The Gift in Living in the present moment The best way you feel happier about your life is to stop dwelling on the past and stop worrying about the future. If you suffer from anxiety or depression, it is probably because you are doing one or both of these things constantly and neglecting the present moment. If you find yourself constantly dwelling on negative memories, try the following exercise: Stopping Comparing your own Life with other Peoples’ Lives Part of what makes people feel unhappy with their own lives is the comparison they make with the lives of those around them. The tendency is to compare the low points of your own life with the positive points of other peoples’ lives Transform by Getting in Shape. Exercising regularly not only keeps you looking your best, it will improve your cardiovascular health, reduce your likelihood for certain diseases, give you more energy, and even improve your sex life. The Reason to Eat Well Remember that you are what you eat. Whether you want to lose weight or simply improve your overall health, what you eat matters Get a makeover Makeovers aren’t just about looking better, necessarily. The simple act of getting a haircut or buying different clothes can make you feel like a new person. Whether you’re unhappy with your look or simply bored with it, try to mix things up David also reminds you to post your questions for the Saturday ASSK Dave show on Fb Tomorrow https://davidonfacebook.com See You on the Other Side ...
